With the World Series officially over and the Los Angeles Dodgers named champions of baseball for the eighth time, it's now awards season for the MLB.

While the MVPs, Rookies of the Year and Cy Young (best pitcher) Awards for each league (National and American) are yet to be named, the Rawlings Gold Glove winners have been announced for each position.

What are the Rawlings Gold Glove Awards?

The MLB's Gold Glove Awards are annual awards given to the best defensive players at each position in both the American League (AL) and the National League (NL).

Sponsored by Rawlings, the Gold Glove Awards honour players who have demonstrated exceptional defensive ability, including fielding skills like catching, throwing accuracy, range and field awareness.

Each league has nine positional Gold Glove Awards: one for each infield position (first base, second base, shortstop, and third base), one for each outfield position (left, centre, and right fields), a catcher and a pitcher, plus one utility player, which was added to the list for the first time 2022.

This year's winners featured 14 first-time Gold Glovers, tied with 2022 for the most in a single season.

Managers and coaches from each team vote for players in their league, but they cannot vote for players on their own team.
