Newcastle veteran David Carney is urging the Jets to splash some cash this transfer window to try to resurrect thier A-League season.

The Jets currently sit eighth on the A-League table with just three wins from 13 games, despite a positive start to the season, where they were on top of the ladder after round four.

โ€œThere's no question we need players, we need two or three more quality players just to get us to that next level,โ€ Carney said.

โ€œIt's hard, especially if we do get a few injuries. But I still think if we our best 11 can beat anyone but hopefully we can get a few more quality players into the team.

โ€œWe don't have the quality of other teams so we can't really have off days and expect to get results."

Newcastle face Sydney FC at Hunter Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
