The ACT Brumbies are bracing for a major hit with reportsย playmaker Matt Toomuaย isย expected to join English club Wasps and international clubs preparing to raid their off-contract stars.

But the Brumbies will launch their own bid to plan for the future, aiming to re-sign coach Stephen Larkham and marquee man David Pocock when training ramps up in January.

Toomua has been linked with a move to England despite having a contract until the end of the 2017 Super Rugby season.

The hard-hitting flyhalf was part of the Wallabies' World Cup campaign, but saw limited game time behind Matt Giteau and Kurtley Beale.

He was spotted at a Wasps game against the Leicester Tigers a week after the World Cup final and it's understood the Coventry-based club keenly pursued his services.
