The 2022-23 Big Bash League's regular season is over, and that means Zero Wicket can reveal our MVP winner.
After handing out votes on a 3-2-1 basis for every game throughout the tournament, Sean Abbott has taken the crown as this season's best, scoring 13 votes, just one ahead of the Adelaide Strikers' Matt Short.
Josh Inglis takes the bronze medal after a fantastic season for the Strikers, with a host of players, including former Australian ODI and current T20I captain Aaron Finch, up and coming Aaron Hardie, Brisbane Heat veteran Michael Neser, and star Steve Smith all locked on nine votes.

The Sydney Thunder were able to secure a finals spot with the second low-scoring game of the final day. Chasing 119, set up by Usman Qadir's 3 for 24 and Chris Green's 2 for 19, it was Daniel Sams who scored 28 from 18 balls to prove the difference between the two sides, despite the best efforts of Adam Zampa.

Hobart Hurricanes vs Brisbane Heat, Wednesday, January 25
In a low-scoring game, the Hobart Hurricanes were able to hang onto a slim two-run victory despite only scoring 120. Macalister Wright scored almost half the side's runs, before Nathan Ellis' 2 for 26 held the Head to 118, with the batsmen failing to get going.

Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers, Tuesday, January 24
The Melbourne Renegades managed to go past the Adelaide Strikers in a game which will knock the men in blue out of the finals, with Aaron Finch again starring, scoring 63 in a run chase of 142. Alex Carey was the only batter who got going for the Strikers, while Fawad Ahmed was the star with the ball.

Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Sixers, Monday, January 23
Steve Smith had his third man of the match performance in a row after getting the Sixers off to a wonderful start, this time dismissed for 66 off 33 balls. That pushed the Sydney side along to 180, with the Hurricanes falling 24 runs short in response despite the efforts of Zak Crawley. It was Jackson Bird, Sean Abbott and Izharulhaq Naveed who led the attack.

The Brisbane Heat's 188 would be enough to hold the Stars to yet another loss in a four-run thriller. Sam Hain and Jimmy Peirson set the tempo for the men in teal with 73 and 57 respectively, while the Stars had plenty of contributions, but none enough to push them over the line, with Mitch Swepson the pick of the bowlers.

The Adelaide Strikers claimed the biggest chase in BBL history, managing to reach the Hurricanes' 229 with three balls to spare on the back of a Matt Short century. Chris Lynn also got going with the bat after Rashid Khan went at under seven runs per over to stop the score from ballooning even further. The runs were shared for the Hurricanes, but Caleb Jewel's 54 from 25 balls was particularly impressive.

182 would prove to be enough for the Sydney Thunder against the Brisbane Heat, with the men in green picking up an 11-run victory on the back of Daniel Sams 36 from 15 and 2 wickets, as well as taking an excellent outfield catch. In a high-scoring game, Nathan McAndrew took four wickets, while Colin Munro's 98 from 53 balls single-handedly kept the Heat in the contest. James Bazley also took 4 and scored 29 to give the Heat a chance.

In a back and forth contest, it was the Perth Scorchers who were able to pick up an important win at home over the Adelaide Strikers. The Strikers made just 133, never able to get going with the bat, before a constant stream of wickets left the Scorchers 6 for 72. Ashton Turner's 48 from 38 ultimately proved to be the difference between the two sides however.

The Hobart Hurricanes were able to snatch victory away from the Perth Scorchers on the back of Patrick Dooley's 4 for 16, while a score had of 172 had earlier been set up by Matthew Wade and Tim David. Josh Inglis' 62 had put the Scorchers in the driver's seat, while Jhye Richardson's 3 for 26 was the pick of the bowlers for the men in orange.
