Melbourne Renegades veteran Shaun Marsh is hopeful of featuring in his side's upcoming BBL clash against Hobart on Saturday, returning to Victoria this week as he continues to nurse a calf complaint.
Marsh has missed the Renegades' opening three matches to start the tournament, with the Melbourne franchise managing an undefeated start to their campaign.
Their top order struggled in Wednesday's matchup with Brisbane at GMHBA Stadium, with Sam Harper, Nic Maddinson, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Jonathan Wells all falling cheaply to see the score read 4/9 in the opening three overs.
Big-hitting from internationals Andre Russell ad Akeal Hosein, coupled by veteran Aaron Finch's ability to steady the middle order, aided the Renegades as they claimed a four-wicket win.
The undefeated Renegades may be bolstered this Saturday should Marsh pass fitness tests, with the West Australian hopeful of being given the green light in the coming days.
"Hopefully (I'll be playing) the next game," Marsh toldย Channel 7ย on Wednesday night.
"(The) body is starting to feel good. It's good to be back with the guys again and be amongst it.
"The calf is feeling good, which is the main thing. Bit of training yesterday, bit more tomorrow and then hopefully right for Saturday's game."
Marsh recorded 202 runs in the BBL last season from his seven innings, scoring at an average of 28.86 and a strike rate of 132.03.
The 39-year-old, who sits in sixth on the all-time BBL runs leaderboard, recently re-signed with the Renegades until the end of the 2023-24 season.
