Lleyton will come out of retirement to play this weekend's Davis Cup tie against the USA as the playing captain.
Hewitt's inclusion means Nick Kygrios will not take his place in the team, after failing to overcome a back injury and a virus, which forced him to withdraw from his semifinal clash with Stan Wawrinka in Dubai last week.
Hewitt retired from professional tennis after last month's second round loss to David Ferrer at the Australian Open.
It is unclear what the 35-year-old's role will be in the team.
