Tennis great Boris Becker says Nick Kyrgios will be win a Grand Slam and be a champion of the sport.
Becker, who currently coaches world No. Novak Djokovic, said Kyrgios is the most talented youngster in the game.
โHe is a future champion,โ Becker said.
โI watch him very closely. If you play him in a tournament, he's a tough competitor. He is not someone who is beaten easily. He's very colourful. He's a character.
โI think people talk a lot about him at the moment a bit too much for his outbursts than his performances. But I think that will change.
Kyrgios won his first ATP title in Marseille last month and is currently No.27 in the world.
โNick Kyrgios is the most talented of the young guns," Becker said.
โHe's got a big game, a big serve, he loves the big stage. I think he's got maturity problems, but he's 20. You know, what do you expect?
โHe's still a young man, and he still has to find his feet. He has to control his emotions better than he does.โ
Becker also said that young Aussie Bernard Tomic is not far off cracking the top-10.
โWe are friends with Bernard, we know him,โ Becker said.
โWe practice a lot with him. He's 22. You know, he's been around a couple of years, but he's only 22. He's now the highest Australian in the world. I think he's number 17, or 16.
โAnother one that has character and maturity problems. But they are all young. You know, they all have to find their feet. They have to be comfortable in this environment, called professional tennis. And the baggage that comes with it: the more you win, the more people have expectations, and it's difficult for these younger players to cope sometimes with the pressure.
โHe's already 17 in the world. It's not a far stretched idea that he's going to be in the top 10 any time soon. I believe so.โ
