Melbourne City have just announced the signing of Danish international Michael Jakobsen on a two-year deal.

The 30-year-old has made five senior appearances and has represented Denmark at every youth level, even playing alongside City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.

Jakobsen makes the move to City from Esbjerg fB in Denmark, after playing for Almeria in the Spanish La Liga.

The defender's most successful time in football has been spent in Denmark with Aalborg BK, playing 153 matches and helping AaB win a league title in 2007/08, as well as qualify for the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League.

Jakobsen has been in a priority for City for quite some time, and the Dane will hold a visa position in the A-League sqaud.
