South Africa has appointed Aiden Markram as their new T20I captain, whilst they have made changes to their batting and bowling coaches.

Taking over from Temba Bavuma, Markram will captain his country against the West Indies later this month. While former players Jean-Paul Duminy and Rory Kleinveldt have been named as the new batting and bowling coach.

Duminy has been appointed as the full-time batting coach, whilst Kleinveldt will only work as the bowling coach for the West Indies series. There have been no reports as to whether he will continue after the series.

"Aiden has shown himself to be a leader over a period of time now," coach Rob Walter said at a press conference.

"Obviously, his most recent success for the Sunrisers [Eastern Cape] stands out so it seemed like just a logical progression into the leadership of the national side."

"He has been there before but I think he's matured a lot as a player and as a leader since then."

This is not the first time Markram has captained a South African side. In 2014, he led South Africa Under 19s to a World Cup tournament victory.

During his time as captain, he was South Africa's leading run-scorer in the tournament and the third-highest overall. He will be looking to replicate this form against the West Indies.
