A return date for Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah remains unknown after the paceman underwent surgery on a troublesome back issue.
Bumrah, who was sidelined for India's T20 World Cup campaign late last year and their Test series against Australia due to the ailment, has been placed on cotton wool as India plan to have their star bowler ready for this year's ODI World Cup on home soil.
Having gone under the knife this week in New Zealand, Bumrah will require a lengthy recovery period to be in shape for the World Cup, which is scheduled to commence in October.
Should Bumrah make his return during or in the lead-up to the World Cup it will likely mark 12 months since the 29-year-old last played for India, with his most previous outing coming against Australia last September.
Bumrah will likely remain out of India's Test plans for their almost-certain spot in the World Test Championships Final in London in June.
The Ahmedabad native has played 30 Tests and 132 white-ball matches at the international level for India, tallying 319 wickets.
