Former Chelsea great Michael Essien is reportedly very keen to find a home in Australia with an A-League club for the upcoming season.
The 33-year-old spent nine years at Stamford Bridge winning two Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League crown during his London stay, andย Essien is looking to continue his illustrious career down under.
The Ghanaian has given an Australian agent a job to find him a club in Australia, with the agent confirming to The Advertiser that Essien is available to join a club during this late stage of the pre-season.
Essien may be lured to a club and signed as one of Football Federation Australia's full season guest players, joining Melbourne City's Tim Cahill as the only other guest player.
Teams may also be skeptical surrounding a deal of that type, following the FFA's choice to turn down Alessandro Diamanti as a guest player despite Melbourne Victory keen on securing his services.
Following a move from Chelsea to AC Milan in 2014, Essien's previous club is Panathinaikos in Greece, where the midfielder played 12 games for one goal.
Essien made 168 appearances for Chelsea and scored 25 goals during his long Blues career.
