Spain have put eight past a helpless Liechtenstein in Group G of European qualifying overnight, as they won their first match under new coach Julen Lopetegui.

Diego Costa, David Silva and Alvaro Morata all scored doubles in the 8-0 thrashing, which was Spain's biggest win ever over Liechtenstein.

In the other matches in Group G, Italy and put three past Israel in a comfortable 3-1 victory, while the Albania and Macedonia match-up was called off.

The score was tied at 1-1 midway through the second half before bad rain stopped play. The match is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday.
