Aiming to take more wickets in the upcoming BBL season, the Adelaide Strikers have poached seamer Brendan Doggett from the Sydney Thunder.
Doggett has been a mainstay in the South Australian line-up since joining them ahead of the 2021-22 season from Queensland. In his time with the state, his seam bowling helped guide the state to the Marsh One-Day Cup final last season. However, while he has played for South Australia for a while, this will be his first season with the Adelaide Strikers.
Having played 41 previous matches in the competition with stints at the Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat, Doggett has taken 40 wickets with an average of 26.88 and an economy rate of 8.35. During this time, he took one five-wicket haul. While not known for his batting skills, he has made 38 runs at a strike rate of 90.48.
The fast bowler is also a previous member of the Cricket Australia XI and became the second Indigenous player to have a contract with the Queensland Bulls back in his maiden season, 2016-17.
"South Australia is home now so to be able to stay here for 12 months of the year with my young family is great," Doggett said via Cricket.com.au.
"It's exciting to join a group with a lot of players and staff that I am familiar with, as well as getting to play more at a packed Adelaide Oval."
