The majority of Hyundai A-League club chairmen are refusing to attend a social function for a visiting delegation from FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), The Australian reports.

The chairmen have decided not to attend the function to make a point to the FFA, as the already rocking relationship between the two parties is set to take another blow.

โ€œThere's no way they (the club chairmen) are going to walk into that,โ€ one source told The Australianย on Thursday. โ€œThey don't want to give FFA the satisfaction, plus there are some state federation presidents the owners-chairmen simply want nothing to do with.โ€

FFA chairman Steve Lowy was originally meant to host the function at his house, but Lowy reportedly cannot attend anymore because of other commitments.

In a statement to The Australian, the FFA confirmed Lowy would not be present at the dinner, but denied the non-attendance by chairmen is a protest against FFA.

โ€œA number of A-League representatives have accepted the invitation to an informal dinner involving some stakeholders participating in the statute review process,โ€ a spokesman said.

โ€œIt should be noted that it was always the case that several A-League club and member federation representatives would not be attending the dinner, and in some cases the meetings. There has been no indication that their non-attendance is a protest against FFA.โ€
