Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is unsure of the extent of star striker Harry Kane's injury as the goalscorer left White Hart Lane in a moon boot following Spurs' 1-0 win over Sunderland on Monday morning (AEST).
Kane scored the only goal of the match in the 59th minute and scored for the second consecutive Premier League game for the first time in six months, but was unable to run out a full 90 minutes.
The 23-year-old collided with Black Cats defender Papy Djilobodji in the 87th minute and was substituted and replaced by Vincent Janssen.
Pochettino believes his striker will miss some Premier League time, although he hopes Kane's stint on the sidelines is a short one.
'We will assess him tomorrow. It was tough, he twisted the ankle,' Pochettino said.
'Now he feels pain and we see tomorrow. It's painful and we need to wait.
'I'm sure there may be a problem with his ligaments but it's difficult to assess today. We need to wait.'
Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele also limped off during Tottenham's victory, although post game Pochettino said both players were suffering from cramp and nothing more.
