Harry Kane is expected to miss up to two months of action following an ankle injury that was picked up in Tottenham's 1-0 win over Sunderland on the weekend.
The England striker's right ankle twisted under his own body weight while making a challenge on Sunderland defenderย Papy Djilobodji in the 87th minute and left the game on a stretcher, and scans revealed some unfortunate news the following day.
Two scans showed there was no fracture in the ankle but the striker has suffered ligament damage.
Tottenham believe the injury will fall into the category of grade two damage, which usually keeps a player out for six to eight weeks.
The injury will leave the door open for summer signing Vincent Janssen, as the 22-year-old has struggled for game time behind Kane so far.
