Socceroo Matthew Leckie is focused and ready to help club side Ingolstadt climb up the Bundesliga after a somewhat uncertain past few months.

Leckie was the subject of transfer bids from fellow German clubs and even English Championship side QPR, but Ingolstadt were keen to keep the 25-year-old around.

โ€œClubs were interested and approached my club but I don't think they were too interested in letting me go, so it would've had to have been a ridiculous offer,โ€ Leckie told the Herald Sun.

โ€œMy club spoke to other clubs and they had to come to an agreement.

โ€œI always said moving on and taking another challenge would be good but I was happy to stick around and that's the case now."

After securing promotion to the Bundesliga at the end of the 2014-15 season, Ingolstadt survived relegation with an impressive 11th place finish during their first campaign, although their second season in the top flight hasn't started in the same way.

The side only have one point from their opening six games to sit second from bottom, but the pacey winger believes his team can turn the corner sooner rather than later.

โ€œI've felt very good, I've been dangerous and we've played well. (Overall) it's been a tough start. Results aside it hasn't been too bad, we've created just as many or more chances than the opposition, it's just come down to being clinical or not putting our body on the line," Leckie said.

โ€œIt comes down to being strong mentally and this international break could help us recharge.โ€
