Team USA still holds the number one spot in the FIBA world rankings despite their worst showing at an international event in some time.
With most of their star names out of the world cup and playing with a very under-strength squad, the USA could only manage a seventh-place finish in the tournament after a poor showing throughout.
Going into the World Cup, many believed the USA team competing were at their most vulnerable and were a serious chance to be beaten, and that became a reality with the teams final placing.
But despite their poor showing, FIBA still have the USA on top of the world heading into the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with Spain a close second after winning the World Cup.
Australia and the Czech Republic are the big movers in the rankings after good World Cup showings, with Australia moving up eight spots in the rankings to number three in the world and the Czech Republic moving up 14 spots in the rankings to number 10 in the world.
