'Super Mario' has been given another lifeline, as Italian striker Mario Balotelli has signed with Ligue 1 side Nice on a free transfer.
Liverpool were desperate to offload the troubled attacker for the entire transfer window, and it took until the finals hours of the window for Balotelli to leave Anfield.
The 26-year-old's huge wages were putting sides off and Liverpool were reluctant to loan him out so they wouldn't have to pay them, although a free transfer suites the Reds well and finally gets him off their books.

Liverpool signed Balotelli from AC Milan in 2014 forย ยฃ25 million, but only played one season in England before being loaned back to Milan for the 2015-16 season.
