Yamaha's Maverick Viรฑales returned to the scene of Sundayโs race on the Brno Circuit in order to do some additional data gathering during the one-day Official IRTA test.
In the morning Viรฑales needed little time to get back into the strong rhythm he showed yesterday during the race, and posted a best time of 1โ55.679s just before midday.
In the afternoon he gave the new aero fairing a try. His morning time remained unchallenged for most of the test, until the pace picked up in the final hours.
The Spaniard responded with a 1โ55.335s, on lap 64 of 69 in total, and ended the day in third place, 0.173s from his teammate, and is looking forward to the Austrian Grand Prix with a positive feeling.
โWe were trying to get more acceleration, which is really important in Austria to get a good lap time,โ he said. โWe improved and I feel happy again on the bike, Iโm riding really good. We also tried many things with the electronics that we improved, so Iโm quite happy."
The carbon front forks from รhlins feel much lighter, but anyway the effect wasnโt the one we wanted. Weโll try it again in Austria and letโs see how we do there. We didnโt try the two new front Michelin tyres, we wanted to keep the momentum going with this tyre and keep the best feeling for Austria.โ
