Optus Sport has secured the rights to broadcast the FA Cup from the 2024/25 competition in Australia, with the streaming service also adding the FA Community Shield to its stable of competitions.

The FA Cup has been held on the Paramount+ service for the past three years after the CBS-backed platform secured rights to the competition in 2021.

The world's longest-runningย national knockout football cup competition is now set to call Optus Sport home in Australia, with the FA Cup joining the Premier League and Women's Super League to help fill out the English football calendar in the one place for fans down under.

The upcoming FA Cup will get underway in November, with English giants Manchester United set to defend their crown after winning the competition for the 13th time in their history with a victory over rivals Machester City in May.

That victory will see the two Mancunian clubs go head-to-head at the annual Premier League curtain-raiser, the Community Shield, at Wembley on August 10.

Optus Sport subscribers will now be able to watch the Community Shield and FA Cup as well as the Premier League and Super League seasons.

"The Emirates FA Cup is one of the most prestigious knockout cup competitions in world football and we are excited to unite the Emiratesย FA Cup and The FA Community Shield as part of the world's best football on Optus Sport," Optus Sport boss Howard Rees said in a statement.

The 2024 FA Cup open round proper will get underway on November 2, with preliminary and qualifying rounds to be held from August through to October.

The final will be held in May next year.
