Western Australian all-rounder Cooper Connolly has emerged as a surprise selection for Australia's upcoming white ball trip to the UK to face England and Scotland.
Connolly has been named in the touring side's 14-man T20 squad, while a 16-man squad for Australia's five ODIs against England has also been confirmed.
T20 captain Mitch Marsh will lead both sides in the absence of ODI and Test skipper Pat Cummins, with Marsh's fellow statesman Connolly in line for his international debut for the September trip.
Connolly has been a rapid riser and more recently a key piece for BBL outfit the Perth Scorchers with his dominance atop the batting order and occasional left-arm orthodox.
The 20-year-old is joined by fellow youngster and big-hitter Jake Fraser-McGurk, who looms as the likely man to fill the void left by retired Australian opener David Warner when Australia meet Scotland at The Grange on September 4.
That match will open a three-match T20 series in Edinburgh before Australia head to Southampton for the first of their three T20s against the English, with one to feature in Cardiff, Wales.
Australia will then face England in a five-game ODI series, which will open at Trent Bridge on September 19 and conclude 10 days later in Bristol.
Of the 14 players selected in the T20 side, all of Marsh, Nathan Ellis, Fraser-McGurk, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Travis Head, Josh Inglis and Adam Zampa will also back it up for the ODI series.
