Australia have confirmed their XI for the first Test of the summer against the West Indies in Perth that will start on Wednesday.

Captain Pat Cummins unveiled the XI on Tuesday morning at a press conference, with no surprises in the team who will enter the two-match series against the West Indies as heavy favourites.

Out of the 13-man squad that was named on November 8, Victorian duo Scott Boland and Marcus Harris are the two who will miss out.

It means the team will feature three veteran quicks in Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, while Nathan Lyon will be the side's sole spinner on a Perth pitch that has already been described as "looking fast and bouncy."

Cameron Green will supplement the bowling attack as the team's all-rounder, while the batting order is more or less as expected.

David Warner and Usman Khawaja will open, starving off the threat of Marcus Harris in the squad, while Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith will form the deadly number three and four combination.

Travis Head, fresh off a mega century in the third ODI at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against England last week, will bat at number five, while Alex Carey wears the gloves for the home side.

The Test at Perth will be followed by a day-night encounter in Adelaide, before Australia heads into a three-match series against South Africa in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, with tours of India and England then to follow during the year.

The first Test against the West Indies is the first in a string of 14 Tests (15 if Australia make the World Test Championship final) that Australia will play in an eight-month window.

Play in Perth is set to commence at 1:20pm (AEDT) on Wednesday.
