A gold medal for Kaylee McKeown has kept Australia in third spot on the 2024 Paris Olympic Games medal table, only a single gold medal behind leaders Japan.
Japan, who picked up their seventh Gold of the Olympic Games through Nagase Takanori in Judo overnight, now have a total of 13 medals.
China are locked with Australia - but ahead on silver medals - on six gold medals, while France and South Korea have five. The USA and Great Britain have four, with Italy on three as the European nation continue to punch above their weight.
Overnight, Australia, Ireland and Great Britain won medals in the pool, while New Zealand picked up their first medal of the Games by winning the women's rugby sevens competition - Australia were favoured to emerge with a medal, but came up short in the bronze game against the USA.
Serbia and Great Britain picked up medals in shooting events, while Slovenia's Andreja Leski joined by Takanori as a judo gold medallist.
Italy took out the women's Epee team event in the fencing, while the USA picked up gold in the women's team final at artistic gymnastics.
