The NSW Swifts have appointed a new assistant to their coaching staff for the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season.
Previously serving as the head coach of North Shore United and leading them to the Minor Premiership in the Opens Division of the 2024 Netball NSW Premier League competition, Dylan Nexhip has agreed to join the Swifts to work under Briony Akle.
Nexhip is also a decorated international defender for the Australian Kelpies and NSW Opens Men's Team where he commonly played in wing defence (WD).
โFirstly, I would like to thank Briony and her team for giving me this chance to take the next step in my netball journey," Nexhip said in a statement.
โI have always had a huge admiration for the Swifts and everything they stand for, so to have this opportunity is a dream come true, and not one I take for granted.
โI am really excited to work with my fellow coaches, the players and everyone at the Club both on and off the court.โ
โI want to approach my new role with determination, unwavering commitment, and a relentless drive to assist Briony in further cultivating team and wider Club success.
โI would also like to thank everyone at North Shore United and Knox Grammar Prep School, where I teach, for their support in helping me realise this dream.
โIt is my philosophy that open-mindedness and willingness to evolve as both a person and a coach are hugely important when it comes to long-term success and the Swifts environment that Briony's created is the epitome of this. I cannot wait join the team.โ
In working under Akle, he will be a key piece in the development of the younger players as well as helping athletes transition from the Swifts Academy pathways system to the senior level.
โWe were presented with some amazing candidates for this role and I would like to congratulate Dylan on his appointment after a rigorous selection process,โ Swifts head coach Briony Akle added.
โDylan has a very clear vision when it comes to netball, how it should be played and what he can bring to the Swifts environment as we aim to return to the mountain top in 2025. Importantly, his strengths directly address some key areas we have identified for focus in our high-performance environment.
โThe Netball NSW Premier League is one of the best competitions in the country and in a short period of time he's proven himself to be a savvy coach who takes pride in a collective-first approach.
โIt is my pleasure to welcome him to the Swifts and look forward to working closely him.โ
