Triple M radio host Marty Sheargold launched into an on-air tirade against the Matildas, which led to his sacking from the network and widespread backlash.
The Australian Sporting Commission has since responded with a statement from AIS Performance General Manager Matti Clements, expressing disappointment in the comedian's remarks.
"The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is disappointed that athletes and women in sport still have to deal with these derogatory comments," she said.
"Our Australian athletes are incredible role models who inspire men, women, boys and girls from all walks of life.
"The sports system is united by the win well ethos which is built around putting the wellbeing of people first.
"The sector will not allow comments like this to undo the hard work done by generations of women in sport."
The Matildas' interim head coach Tom Sermanni had also commented on Sheargold's words, stating that what he said "crossed the line."
"It's completely unnecessary and generally outrageous, and, it's something that from a behavioural perspective, is really very, very disappointing," he said.
"For me, it's not so much about sexism and misogyny, in a sense, although that's unacceptable, let me make that clear.
"It's what the comments were. The comments just crossed the line. They were just basically out of order and very, very unnecessary.
"Our team is obviously a very high-profile team, and being a high-profile team, you do take criticism, you do create criticism sometimes very near the edge, but sometimes that just goes over the edge, and those comments did that."
The Matildas recently took tough losses to both Japan and USA in the ongoing SheBelieves Cup, with their next chance for redemption coming against Colombia at 11:30 on the 27th of February.
