The very talented Peter Vale, formerly of WilliamsF1 Team and McLaren is making the move to Supercars next weekend when he joins Brad Jones Racing as their new team manager.
The former Williams F1 Team Manager & McLaren Technical Co-Ordinator will take over his new role as of the Gold Coast round of the Supercars Championship next weekend.
Vale, originally from Sydney, has spent the last quarter of a decade in Formula One and his new career move was made possible by the team's current Team Manager, Chris Clark, who is regretfully leaving the team after more than ten years so he can move closer to family.
Vale and Clark both worked for McLaren and Clark knew Vale would be the man to fill his shoes.
โBack in late March I spoke with Chris Clark, he let me know of his future plans and asked if I wouldย be interested inย returning to Australia with the view of replacing him at Brad Jones Racing in 2018,โ Vale said. โAs a kid growing up in Australia, the Supercar seriesย had a big influence on me andย is part ofย reason why I decided to go to UK and becomeย involved in motorsport. While in the UK I kept up to date with the Supercar Seriesย and the moreย Chris and I talkedย over the next several months the more the position at BJR appealed to me.โ
โAfter a very positive conversation between Brad and I;ย Brad organized for me to attend the Townsville 400 event as a guest of BJR.ย This gave me the opportunity meet and interact withย the team, helping me find out more about BJR, the Supercar and Dunlop Super2 Series first hand. Theย whole experience was positiveย so Brad and I agreed to move forward, Bradย inviting me to Albury to visit the BJR workshop and meet theย rest of the team before I headed back to the UK.โ
โI must thank Brad, Kim and Chrisย for giving me the opportunity to work with the team at BJR andย I am really looking forward to being involved with the Supercar Series.โ
