While his teammate was all smiles after signing a new three year deal with Red Bull Racing and finishing a close second to Lewis Hamilton at the end of the first day of track action at the Circuit of the Americas on Friday, Aussie racer Daniel Ricciardo didn't have such an easy time.

After just 14 laps and a best time of 16th in the opening ninety minute free practice session, Dani Ric improved to fifth fastest after another 30 laps, however he was far from happy at the end of the day after experiencing very low grip on the American trackโ€ฆ

"It was not that easy today actually,โ€ he said. โ€œThe grip on the circuit was really low for what we were expecting with lap times. It's humid so the tyres were getting really hot and then you struggle to generate the desirable grip on the car.โ€

โ€˜We have a few things we can obviously try for tomorrow, now that we understand a bit more from these sessions. We didn't really have the ideal set up but I think with all those things considered we're not a million miles off the pace and if we can get it right tomorrow we can still be up there.โ€

โ€œThat's our target and that's realistic so we'll work on that and hopefully you'll see us amongst the top three tomorrow."
