Italian superstar Andrea Pirlo is being courted by the A-League to follow in the footsteps of Alessandro Del Piero.
The Juventus champion will be presented with an offer by local agent Lou Sticca in the coming days.
Tribal Sports Group's Sticca, who helped bring Del Piero to Australia three years ago, confirmed to the Herald Sun that talks with Pirlo were imminent.
“I have sought formal permission from Juve to talk to Andrea's agent. I stress I will meet Andrea's agent and position Australia there for consideration,” Sticca said.
“One thing in Australia's favour is Andrea was in Sydney with the Juventus team for pre-season so he has at least seen first-hand how beautiful our country is.
“Maybe that will work in our favour. As far as clubs are concerned that could accommodate Andrea let's see but I am sure there would be interest from one or two.”
Sydney FC appears the most likely option, after marquee player Marc Janko did not re-sign with the club.
Pirlo, who turned 36 in May, still has a year to run on his contract, however, he was in tears following Juve's loss to Barcelona in the Champions League Finals on the weekend, possibly indicating that it may have been his final match for the Italian giant.
