A-League goalkeeper Alex Paulsen for the Wellington Phoenix has reportedly agreed to a deal that will see him make the move to the English Premier League.
In what will see the Wellington Phoenix earn a club-record transfer fee, Paulsen, 21, is one of the best young talents in the A-League competition.
After fielding interest from Liverpool and Chelsea, The NZ Herald reports that he has agreed to a deal with English Premier League club AFC Bournemouth.
The publication understands that the negotiations came to a close in the last few days, with Paulsen also having advanced discussions with an unknown Premier League club.
Although he did not make a single league appearance in the 2022-23 A-League season, he is coming off a breakout season for the Phoenix in which he recorded 12 clean sheets and only conceded 26 goals throughout the regular season - the fewest by any club in the season.
He also recently played for the A-League Men's PFA Team of the Year against Newcastle United in May in Melbourne and represented New Zealand at the 2020 Toyko Olympics.
This was one of, if not, the save of the season during the 2023-24 A-League Men campaign.
Unbelievable to watch in real time and slo-mo.
