England fast bowler Jofra Archer is eyeing his return to the English test team after his comeback with the England Lions side.
Archer says that he wants to continue playing Test Cricket, even if England is preparing for the fast bowler to make a phased return.
Archer lined up for the England Lions against England in a tour match ahead of the nations Test tour of Pakistan, taking 0 for 38 from 9 overs before also scoring 20 from 11 with the bat.
"It's weird feeling this way again," he told reporters at the Tolerance Oval.
"It was really lovely, yesterday was a really, really big day. A small day but still a big day. I will say I'm fully back.
"Obviously, to get back to the first team is my number one priority but also getting back there as safely as possible.
Significantly, performance with the ball has been encouraging for the English fans, as Archer has been able to sort out his injuries of a stress fracture in the back and a chronic elbow issue.
"I'd rather take these last few months very seriously, more serious than probably all of the rehab, because once this phase goes right then, it can set me up for the next three to four years injury-free.
"I would love to play every game, but I don't think the physio would let me. Our squad is strong enough that I can play all formats all year round," he added.
Archer is being progressive and cautious simultaneously to keep himself ready to play all the formats. Next summer's Ashes series is a longer-range target for him.
Archer's schedule is tight in the upcoming months, with his brief appearance in the new South African league, SA20, for MI Cape Town. He aims to get back into the international circuit with the white ball tours of South Africa and Bangladesh.
