The NFL's foray into Australian sport looks set to continue as Queensland rugby league product Emmanuel Meafou has become the second Aussie to sign with the NFL's International Pathways Program.
Meafou has graduated to the international program which helped deliver South Sydney under 20s gun Jordan Mailata to the NFL.
This ties in with the recent news Cronulla Sharks fullback Valentine Holmes is moving to the US to pursue his NFL career.
At just 20 years of age, Meafou impressed scouts at last month's NFL combine on the Gold Coast where he has now been offered a place at their international academy based in Florida.
Meafou is following in the same footsteps that Mailata took last year, where he became the first Australian rugby league player to enter the NFL's draft.
Mailata was than picked up by the Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, where he has made the 53-man roster and is very close to making his debut after being added to the extended bench the last several weeks.
After starting his rugby league career in Ipswich, Meafou has been given an amazing opportunity to swap codes and dominate in the NFL.
The monster 20-year-old standing at 202cm and weighing 157kgs was also a member of the Melbourne Rebels' rugby union Under 20s program, as well as playing for NSW Country in the National Rugby Championship this season.
Being roughly the same size as Mailata, Meafou is hoping his time with the international academy will help turn him into a professional NFL player.
Despite having a long way to go to making his NFL dream come true, Meafou could be joined by a familiar rugby league star.
Holmes is another Aussie eyeing that 'American Dream' of playing NFL in an attempt to match and surpass Jarryd Hayne by making it in the US.
Holmes has already experienced some NFL workouts back in 2016 before deciding to commit to the Sharks for another four years.
However, it seems the NFL fire still burns within Holmes who, if he does walk out on the NRL, will join Meafou in the International Pathways Program.
