Matt Renshaw's difficult start to Australia's tour of India has taken another turn, with the revelation he is having x-rays on his knee during Day 2.
Cricket Australia are reporting that Renshaw, who was dismissed for a golden duck during Day 1 to the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja, injured himself during the warm-up before Australia took to the field on Day 2.
India resumed their first innings from a position of strength at 1 for 77 chasing a score of 177 set by the tourists.
Renshaw, who won a spot in the batting order for the series opener, batted at number five for Australia, but was immediately sent on his way as part of Jadeja's five-wicket haul.
The expected severity of any injury for Renshaw is unclear, however, he will likely need to score runs in the second innings to fight for his spot in the second Test, which gets underway on February 17 in Delhi.
The expected return of Cameron Green will likely leave the dropped Travis Head, Peter Handscomb and Matt Renshaw fighting for a single spot in the batting order behind the top four of David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith.
Handscomb managed to make a hard-fought 31 in the first innings, likely giving him the inside running on a spot for Delhi.
India were 3 for 151 in their chase of 177 at lunch on Day 2, with Todd Murphy picking up all three wickets on debut.
