Marcus Harris has failed to make Australia's 16-man Test squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, but will still travel as part of 34 players named in the all-format tour which also features an 'A' team.

The seven-week tour in June-July will see Australia play T20, ODI and Test matches, as well as an Australia A side play one day and first-class games.

Harris, who has played 14 Tests for Australia, missed selection for the 16-man Test squad but has been selected as part of the Australia A side.

Australia will first play a three-match T20 series, with matches in Colombo on June 7 and 8 before heading to Kandy on June 11.

Aaron Finch has been selected as captain of the T20 squad.

Next on the Agenda will be a five-game ODI series, with Kandy hosting the first two matches on June 14 and 16 before three games in Colombo on June 19, 21 and 24.

Finch has also been selected as captain of the ODI squad.

The tour will finish with two Test matches, with Ashes-winning captain Pat Cummins set to continue in his leadership role.

The first Test, at Galle, will be played from June 29 - July 3. The second, at the same venue, will be played from July 8 - 12.

The series will be new coach Andrew McDonald's first in an official capacity, having been announced as the long-term successor to Justin Langer earlier this month.

National Selector George Bailey said it was "incredibly exciting" to have an all-format tour with an Australia A component.

"It's incredibly exciting to have an Australia A component which offers the further flexibility and opportunity for players to be available for and cross over into all squads," Bailey said, per cricket.com.au.

"That could be from a Test or white-ball preparation perspective or an opportunity to impress at an international level.

"This is the first time a tour of this scale has been possible since the Ashes in 2019."

Australia A play two one-day games in Colombo, on June 8 and 10, before two first-class matches in Hambantota, from June 14 - 17 and June 21 - 24.
