Veteran fast bowler Peter Siddle has fired a warning shot to the rest of the competition over new teammate Chris Lynn, being at his destructive best, with fears also linked to crowd safety.

Concerns surrounding the big-hitting right-hander's chances of potentially being lost to the BBL with pop-up tournaments worldwide attracting players left right and centre, before a lifeline was thrown his way to stay.

After being shown the door by the Brisbane Heat having not been offered a contract, Lynn found a new home at the Adelaide Strikers, coupling up with long-time competitorย Siddle, who was full of praise for the 32-year-old.

โ€œHe's probably been the greatest batsman in the history of the Big Bash in terms of runs and sixes,โ€ Siddle told the NCA NewsWire.

โ€œTo lose someone like that who is still at the peak of his form would've been terrible. We've seen in the UAE just recently in the T10 how dominant he still is, so it's obvious we still need him around in the Big Bash.

โ€œHe's one of my good mates and I've played a lot of cricket against him. To be able to walk on the field with him after playing so many games against each other is going to be terrific because we know how good heโ€˜s been in the Big Bash for so long.

โ€œAdelaide Oval is going to suit him. The dimensions of the ground definitely aren't big enough to contain him, so I'm looking forward to him firing.โ€

Used to dealing with the stretched-out circumference of the Gabba, Lynn will appreciate the short square boundaries where he will get his first crack on Wednesday night against the Sydney Sixers.

After a sub-par year with bat in hand, the star-studded Strikers lineup welcomed Lynn with open arms, joining forces with the likes of T20 specialist Rashid Khan, in hoping to store away another BBL franchise win.
