After once being touted as the next big midfielder to come out of Arsenal, Jack Wilshere has joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan in a bid to save his Gunners career.
The 24-year-old has had an injury interrupted career in the the Premier League, with his last 90 minute performance coming way back in September 2014.
The England international agreed with Arsene Wenger that regular first-team football was what he needed, and a loan spell at another Premier League club would be best for both parties.
The Cherries, boasting former Arsenal teammate and long time friend of Wilshere, Benik Afobe, won the race ahead of a reported 20 other interested clubs, and will now pay a loan fee ofย ยฃ2 million plus all of the midfielder'sย ยฃ80,000 a week wages.
โJack is a fantastic addition to the club,โ Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said.
โHe is a player that needs no introduction and one that, quite rightly, our supporters will be excited to see in a Bournemouth shirt.
โHe will bring a wealth of international and Premier League experience, so we are delighted to be able to welcome a player of his calibre to the club.โ
