Despite a lengthy break between series, LeBron James picked up from where he left off, scoring 15 points in the first quarter. He and the Cavs early play silenced the Celtics crowd, and they took an 11-point lead into the first break.
Boston never really looked likely, and by halftime were down by 22. A late run in the fourth quarter made the margin respectable, however it was aย bigger winย than for the Cavs than it suggested.
Tempers did flare in parts, with Cleveland's Tristan Thompson being involved in most of the action.
LeBron finished with an impressive stat line of 38 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. Kevin Love was also good for the Cavs, collecting 12 boards to go along with his 32 points.
Kyrie Irving was kept relatively quite by his lofty standards, scoring just 11 points.
For Boston Avery Bradley had 21 points, while Isaiah Thomas had a tough night, but still managed to record 17 points, and 10 assists.
Game two of the series will take place on Saturday morning. The Celtics will desperately be trying to take a win at home, as if the Cavaliers take a 2-0 lead, the series will be virtually over.
