Roger Federer won a record eighth Wimbledon title and 19th Grand Slam overnight to further elevate his status as the greatest of all time.
The 35-year-old defeated Croatian Marin Cilic 6-3, 6-1, 6-4, winning his first Wimbledon title since 2012.
Cilic, who had produced some brilliant form to reach the final, could not produce the same against Federer and was outclassed from the outset.
Federer hit eight aces, 22 winners and made just eight unforced errors.
The win makes Federer the oldest man in the open era to win Wimbledon and the second oldest player after Ken Roswell to win a Grand Slam in the open era.
