James Harden has rocked the NBA world after turning down the opportunity to become the first $50m-a-year player in NBA history as he declares his desire for a move to Brooklyn.

ESPN'sย Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on Tuesday after reports suggested the Nets were keen on the superstar guard, with Harden now keen on being traded.

Harden would join a side that would sky-rocket into championship favouritism, with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving set to feature on the court for the first time this season.

The All-Star pair are understood to have held discussions with Harden in convincing the 31-year-old to move east.

Wojnarowski also revealed the Rockets don't believe the Nets could offer a trade package suitable to see the Texan franchise move on their star player.

The news follows Russell Westbrook's desire to also head out of Houston
