Shooting below par is the name of the professional golfing game.
And for those who can, time and again, work their score backward from zero at major tournaments, riches - as well as different coloured jackets - await them.
Whether on the tee box of a short three or a half-mile-long five, these elite golfers often have many thoughts rushing through their mind, however, many only have one aim - to birdie the hole by shooting one-under.
Yet, gloved fingers are crossed for the more daring amongst the field as they send balls high and long at verdant greens, hunting eagles and a two-under score instead.
But have any of these adventurous golfers ever scored back-to-back eagles at Augusta National during The Masters?
Well, the answer may shock some.
Between the dawn of the storied tournament in 1934 and 1981, no golfer had ever entered the Masters field and saved four shots in consecutive holes.
However, between 1982 and 2018, four golfers achieved the uber-rare feat of scoring consecutive eagles:
Year | Golfer | Holes | Round |
1982 | Dan Pohl | 13th and 14th | Third |
2009 | Dustin Johnson | 13th and 14th | Fourth |
2010 | Phil Mickelson | 13th and 14th | Third |
2018 | Webb Simpson | 7th and 8th | Fourth |
