Veteran all-rounder Moises Henriques is in line to replace Steve Smith in the Australian T20 line-up against Sri Lanka at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Tuesday night.

Smith was concussed in Australia's thrilling Super Over win over Sri Lanka on Sunday after a spectacular fielding effort saw the star batter's head collide with the turf.

The concussion will sideline Smith for the rest of the T20 series but he is expected to be fine to join the Australian tour of Pakistan.

With Travis Head released from the early part of the series to play Sheffield Shield for South Australia, Smith's absence has paved the way for Henriques to return to the international fold.

The Sydney Sixers captain has not played an international T2O since August, where he featured in Australia's 4-1 series loss to Bangladesh.

Henriques played in all five matches of the series, scoring 40 runs at an average of 8 - with 30 of those coming in one innings.

He fared better in the 4-1 series loss against the West Indies last July, scoring 95 runs at an average of 19.

While his international career has been inconsistent, there's no doubting Henriques' talent - he's the Sixers' all-time leading run-scorer and has made two 50s in international T20s.

One of those, a 56 not out, was against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Australia lead the five-match series 2-0, with the MCG set to host the final two games after Tuesday night's clash at Manuka Oval.
