Australian Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt says Nick Kyrgios is on track in his search for a coach, as he looks to a disappointing and controversial Australian Open campaign behind him.

Kyrgios, who is preparing for Australia's Davis Cup tie against the Czech Republic starting at Kooyong on Friday, is currently ranked 14th in the world, after incredibly reaching as high No.13 without a coach.

"He is actually speaking to one or two guys at the moment coaching-wise. If he's able to get them it's going to be a pretty good fit for Nick," Hewitt said.

"It is incredible but that is his talent, too, that he can get nearly to the top 10 in the world without a coach.

"He has got to want to go out there and enjoy working with them and trust what they're saying day in day out, otherwise it won't work.
