The Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes have named their squads for the T20 Spring Challenge, which begins on Thursday.

The Hurricanes will receive Emma Manix-Geeves despite her not yet being named in a WBBL squad but will be without the duo of Amy Smith and Rachel Trenaman - they will be replaced in the coming days.

“The Spring Challenge gives domestic cricketers another tournament to finetune their skills before the start of the WBBL, which is less than three weeks away," Hurricanes coach Jude Coleman said.

“We are lucky to have a large portion of our WBBL|10 squad playing in this tournament, it will give us a chance to try a few different things with our line-ups and put our players in different roles."

For the Renegades, fast bowler Sarah Coyte has been named as captain in which her third season with the club and tenth in her domestic career.

"Can't wait to have the group together. Some familiar faces which is great to see but some new faces which is exciting for the dynamic of the group," Coyte said.

"It's a great opportunity to put some players in different situations and to have them play different roles.

"And also a great opportunity for some of us to get some good WBBL prep in."
