Australian world Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the Italian Open due to a hip injury.

He was due to playย Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in the opening round, but has been replaced byย Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Kyrgios defeated Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis in the openign round in Madrid last week, however, he received treatment on his hip during the match.

He then opted to pull out of the the Italian Open ahead of the first round, with an eye to Roland Garros, which begins in less than two weeks.

Kyrgios reached the third round at the Madrid Open last week, before being beaten by eventual winner, Rafael Nadal.
