Over 20 cricket stars have been retained by the six Major League Cricket (MLC) clubs ahead of the competition's second season.

With the season set to begin on July 4, 23 overseas players have been retained by the LA Knights Riders, MI New York, San Francisco Unicorns, Seattle Orcas, Texas Super Kings and Washington Freedom.

The players retained include Australian trio Tim David, Adam Zampa and Spencer Johnson, reigning SA20 MVP Heinrich Klaasen, and Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan.

Out of all the teams, MI New York have retained the most players with seven, whilst the San Francisco Unicorns and Washington Freedom have only decided to retain two players.

"We expect to see even more world-class players taking part in season two," MLC's tournament director Justin Geale said viaย ESPN Cricinfo.
