The Australian Open has been rocked by match fixing allegations.
Suspicions of match fixing have been raised after a huge betting plunge on a mixed doubles match on Sunday prompted an online bookmaker to suspend betting on the match.
Betting on the match between Lara Arruabarrena and David Marrero and Andrea Hlavackova and Lukasz Kubot - which was won 6-0 6-3 by Hlavackova and Kubot, was suspended 13 hours prior to the start of the match after large amounts of money was placed on the match, which ordinarily would not have garnered much interest.
โWe saw a small number of people placing a large amount of money," head of Pinnacle Sportsย Marco Blume told the NY Times.
โIn context, these matches are rather small. That means that any aggressive betting behavior is very easy to detect on our side.โ
