Melbourne Cricket Ground boss Stuart Fox and curator Matt Page won't be paying any attention to "external" discussions around the condition of the Boxing Day Test pitch.
The discourse around pitch ratings has spiked across the past week after the opening Test between Australia and South Africa in Brisbane was concluded within two days.
Earlier this week the Gabba pitch was graded as below average, with many assuming the 'green monster' would be rated as poor given the outcome of the opening Test.
Attention now turns toward the MCG, which had its last international Test match fail to reach a fourth day as England posted just 68 runs in their second innings on day three.
Questions around the MCG pitch are again being raised ahead of next Monday's Boxing Day Test, however Fox is giving any concerns no consideration.
"I've told Matt to not even pick up a paper for a read, he'll do his job and he's done a great job for the past three or four years,โ Fox said, viaย News Corp.ย
"We've got no doubts about what we're about to produce, I think it'll be a good pitch and we're not too worried.
"We certainly don't listen to what's going on externally.
"In fact, I probably get a little bit angry about some of the journalism around this issue to be honest."
In 2017 the MCG wicket was rated as poor, with the ground having since gained significant support to see the pitch upgraded.
The Boxing Day Test is scheduled to commence at 10:30 AEDT on Monday, with Australia carrying a 1-0 series lead into the match.
