Tiffany Stratton and Drew McIntyre will go down as winners of the 2024 Money In The Bank briefcases, but it was a John Cena appearance to confirm his retirement plans which shocked the WWE universe on Sunday morning (AEST).
Cena, who carried the company for the best part of a decade and has won an equal record 16 world titles, confirmed next year's Wrestlemania in Las Vegas would be his last.
Exactly how he goes out is now a decision for the company to make in booking, but Cena confirmed he would have a final run through 2025, including wrestling at the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and then his final match at the biggest wrestling show on the planet in Vegas.
The star, who has been in WWE for over two decades, only needs one more world title win to pass Ric Flair as the outright record holder.
Cena made no mention of whether he plans to pursue the championship during his final run, although fans were quick to take to social media expressing their desire to see the legend hold up the title one more time.
Earlier in the show, Drew McIntyre kicked off the night by taking out the men's Money In The Bank briefcase, but he would hold it for less than one night before cashing in during the Men's World Heavyweight Championship match between Damian Prise and Seth Rollins.
Turning the match into a triple threat, McIntyre appeared to have it won before CM Punk interferred once again, costing McIntyre the match before he was eventually pinned by Priest.
A botch before McIntyre's arrival appeared to have seen Rollins win the match with a pin on Priest who failed to kick out, but it was largely forgotten in the aftermath.
Rollins losing was supposed to mean he is unable to challenge again for the title while Priest holds it, but it's likely him not being directly pinned will void that clause.
McIntyre now appears to be on a collision course for a match with Punk at SummerSlam, although what role Rollins - who was agitated at Punk post-match - plays remains to be seen.
Sami Zayn was also booked to starve off Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship.
In the women's Money In The Bank match, Tiffany Stratton won a highlight-filled match to take home the contract, while The Bloodline won a chaotic main event over the team of Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton.
The contract which Stratton won saw her push Chelsea Green off an adjacent ladder and through tables that had been set up earlier in an incredible finishing spot.
The main event saw the referee taken out mid-match, with the commentary table turned into the battle ground at one point, before Solo Sikoa would eventually recover with the assistance of Jacob Fatu to have Cody Rhodes take the pin.
His new bloodline are now on course to potentially challenge Rhodes for the Universal Title down the road.
