With the Women's T20 World Cup to be played in his homeland as soon as next month, Morne Morkel has recently joined New Zealand's coaching squad.

Morkel has recently taken on many coaching opportunities, having recently been a part of Namibia's World Cup quest in the men's tournament.

He is also the bowling coach of the Durban Super Giants in the SA20 League.

New Zealand cricket recently released a statement, with Morkel saying: "The opportunity to join the White Ferns group and get involved in the women's game was a no-brainer for me.

"The women's game is growing so rapidly around the world, and this a great opportunity for me to build experience in the women's game and share my knowledge of international cricket to help this team get better."

New Zealand head coach Ben Sawyer said: "We're really excited to have Morne join the group for the World Cup.

The paceman has plenty of experience at the highest level, having played 86 Tests, 117 ODI Internationals and 44 T20s for South Africa across his career.

"Morne had an outstanding international record as a player, and his first-hand experience in major international tournaments, coupled with his knowledge of the conditions in South Africa, will make him a huge asset."
