The NBA has come together and remembered the first Kobe Bryant Day, August 24 or 8/24, since his death in January in a tragic helicopter accident.

With the NBA playoffs in full swing at the Orlando bubble, the teams remaining have made their own unique tributes to the basketball legend.

His former club the Los Angeles Lakers led the way with the tributes, wearing a special jersey designed in 2018 by Kobe Bryant himself, "The Black Mamba". The jerseys, reintroduced by Nike earlier this year, feature a snakeskin design with yellow features, as well as a loveheart with the number 2 in the top left hand corner, for Bryant's daughter Gigi who also died in the accident.

The Lakers played Portland Trail Blazers in the fourth game of their first round series, with a special moment occuring in the first quarter when the Lakers led the Blazers 24 to 8, Bryant's two numbers with Los Angeles.

The Lakers were clearly inspired early and jumped out to a massive 38-point lead in the first half before winning the game 135-115 and gaining a 3-1 series lead over the Trail Blazers. Lebron James led the way for the Lakers with 30 points.

Other tributes were included from Portland star Damien Lillard, who wore Kobe's two numbers on his shoes while facing the Lakers and Rockets star Russell Westbrook, who wore a Kobe Bryant jersey on the sideline while injured.

Perhaps the biggest tribute came from the City of Los Angeles, who renamed part of Figueroa St in downtown Los Angeles to Kobe Bryant Avenue, a permanent tribute for the NBA legend.
